Repairs

No matter how new your PC is or how good it has run, things can and do go wrong. Fixing it yourself can be overwhelming and frustrating.

Don's PC can fix the vast majority of repairs at your home or office, at a time that suits you, and at a reasonable price. You can chose to either replace the faulty part with a unit that you have purchased yourself, or alternatively Don's PC can do the shopping for you. Software can be just as tough to fix and equally overwhelming and frustrating. Don's PC can solve most Windows® related problems too.

Backup

We recommend a backup system for anyone who has any personal or business information on their computer. The backup will ensure that your information is not lost in the event of a PC catastrophe I.e. hard drive failure/virus.

Networking

There was a time when networks were reserved only for large companies with huge IT budgets and support departments to match. Not any more. Installing a home or small business network is not as expensive as you may think, and offers several advantages:

·         Easy file sharing between computers.

·         Cable/DSL internet connection sharing.

·         Printer sharing.

For internal networks security isn't such an issue, but you should be aware that the moment your network is connected to the outside world you are at risk from malicious intruders. In fact your cable or DSL provider will usually recommend that you disable all file and printer sharing to reduce your risk. Don's PC can set up internet connection sharing that is safe, secure, and hassle-free while still offering all the advantages of file and printer sharing. The best news is that a secure file/printer/internet sharing solution doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg.

It is also highly recommended that all networked machines have anti-virus software installed, so if you don't have this protection already we'll be happy to supply and install it for you.

Upgrades

No matter how good the specification was when you bought it, it's a sad fact of life that computers age quickly. The good news is that most systems 18-24 months old can be brought up to speed at a reasonable cost, and older systems can still have their working lives extended.

Don's PC will happily work with you on a full upgrade solution, taking into account your existing hardware and software, desires, and budget. From a simple memory upgrade right through to a total system overhaul.

Common Problems

Although Don's PC is in business to solve computer problems, it is not in your best interests or ours to arrange a call for a problem that can be fixed simply and quickly. The following is a list of 5 minor things to check before arranging a visit:

1) If the base unit or monitor isn't working, is the power switched on? Are all power cables securely connected?

2) No monitor picture - is the brightness or contrast turned all the way down? Is the monitor cable securely connected to the PC?

3) No sound - are the speakers plugged in and switched on? Is the speaker cable securely connected to the PC? Is the volume control turned all the way down?

4) Keyboard error - is the keyboard cable securely connected to the PC? Is something lying on one of the keys?

5) Printer won't print - is the printer plugged in and switched on? Is the printer cable securely connected to the PC? Are the correct printer drivers installed? Will the printer print a test page (see owner's manual for instructions)?

Don's PC charges $60.00 per hour plus no additional fee for drive time. We cover Kuna, Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, and the surrounding areas.
